Oily skin is a nightmare for any individual, be it a teenager or a pregnant woman. But there are skin care tips and tricks you can use to maintain healthy skin. Although there is no simple solution for excessive oil production in the skin, there are ways to manage this skin condition.
We at TABIIB would like to share some tips which can help you achieve that healthy skin.
What Causes Oily Skin?
Oily skin is caused by the overproduction of sebum from the sebaceous glands and is typically caused by hormones. It is also caused by your skincare routine, as the products you use can induce increased oil production in your pores.
It’s not all bad, oil does help your body preserve the moisturise of your skin. However, too much oil, on the other hand, can cause clogged pores, acne, and face bumps. The acne related problem could further cause blemishes and hyperpigmentation.
Tips For Oily Skin Care
Use A Gentle Cleanser
Although it might seem that washing your face several times a day may help remove excess oil, doing so may be problematic. To compensate for essential moistures, your skin can release more oil because you’re depriving it. So instead, of washing your face multiple times a day, invest in a gentle cleanser and use it twice a day.
Use Face Masks
When applied to your face, an ingredient such as honey may be advantageous. Honey contains antibacterial and antimicrobial properties that hydrate your skin while also preventing acne and excess oil development. Using a clay mask on your face removes extra oil from your pores. If you have naturally oily skin, using a clay mask once or twice a week can help you manage the excess oil.
Use Ice Cubes
Ice cubes absorb oil from the skin and perform wonders in treating acne-related swellings and spots. Your skin contains a large number of pores that aid in detoxification and perspiration. Applying ice to your face cleans these pores, resulting in good, glowing, and smooth skin.
Improve Your Diet
Sugary foods not only raise blood glucose levels, but they can also cause a variety of other health issues. Eating a high-sugar diet affects the skin and causes it to become sticky. So, cut back on sugar if you want good skin! Other foods to avoid include dairy substitutes, fried foods, and junk food.
Use An Alcohol-Free Toner
People with oily skin should ideally use alcohol-free toners. Such toners- clean, refresh and moisturise the skin without making it dry and dehydrated. So use an alcohol-free toner to gently cleanse the pores of impurities and the extra oil off the skin’s surface.
Exfoliate Once A Week
It is important to exfoliate oily skin regularly to avoid pimples, blackheads, and clogged pores. If you have never tried this, try exfoliating once a week and see if your skin can handle it.
Use A Light Moisturiser
Moisturizers that are oil-free and non-comedogenic do not clog pores and cause breakouts. When selecting a moisturiser for oily skin, opt for a light water-based moisturizer for your oily skin.
To understand your skin condition, see your doctor or a dermatologist on TABIIB. If your oily skin symptoms, such as acne, are serious, you should seek medical attention because they can lead to infection or scarring.
